“In this city, 87% of businesses consist of commerce (29%), tourism (10%) and services (48%).”
Tulio Nunzi
Civitavecchia – In addition to the discussion of the many local candidates for the elections of the Lazio region, I hope that we will start as soon as possible to discuss the electoral programmes.
I’d like to contribute to this by bringing in some very important data, which is Istat, and therefore not biased. In this city, 87% of businesses consist of commerce (29%), tourism (10%) and services (48%). 80% of the workers still belong to the trade, tourism and services sector.
Third sector turnover (non-Istat data), again in Civitavecchia, corresponds to 81% of the public sector. Obviously with the consequent participation of the third sector in the GDP of this city.
One can begin to think about a new development paradigm as well by focusing on this amazing data that no one is talking about.
Thus, we can also discuss a greater interest in a primary sector of this city, but it is often irrelevant to the interest or discussion; For the possibility of a regional brand, for a tourism system in Etruria that restores the region to a tourism profession, not only Civitavecchia, which has the basics to restore this profession.
A land replete with UNESCO heritage, in addition to two and a half million passengers on cruise ships, in natural heritage despite various attempts at destruction, in archaeological and maritime heritage, in a port that has now set off towards exceptional records, and in entrepreneurship that and the numbers we see in the service sector are crucial.
Shopkeepers, or rather that poetic capitalism that creates work and luxury, are also relevant to our economy. And all this is happening without a permanent information center in the city, a consortium for tourism promotion, or a special interest in the sector, despite the Istat data.
Perhaps given the figures and empty statements from politicians, it would not be bad to think of regional programs (the territory has a prominent role in tourism) in the development of tourism for this region, which many have assumed for several years, but often the public memory of politics is as short and selective as that of a hamster .
