Facebook parent company Meta on October 12 unveiled the Meta Quest Pro virtual reality headset. Priced at $1,500, this high-end speaker is available for pre-order at the Meta Store and in select retail stores. It will be shipped to consumers starting October 25th.
Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ processor, the Meta Quest Pro has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.
It has 10 high-precision sensors, five of which are inside the earpiece and five on the outside, to allow users to experience full color mixed reality and a virtual world.
It has a pancake-shaped lens that bends light several times and reduces the size of the earpiece. There are two LCD screens that use local dimming and quantum dot technology for richer, more vibrant colors.
Meta Quest Pro is designed with open periphery, allowing users to use peripheral vision to multitask between the real and virtual worlds. Partial photomagnetic blocks are included in the box if the user wants an immersive experience.

It contains sensors for capturing facial expressions and eye tracking. Whether the user raises an eyebrow, smiles, or simply makes eye contact with someone, their avatar will do the same for a better virtual experience.
Coming to the controllers, the Meta Quest Touch Pro controllers have three sensors built into each controller to track users’ position in 3D space regardless of the headset. Ensures stable tracking across supported VR applications. Comes with TruTouch Haptics System and rechargeable batteries.
It can be charged through the charging stand and the 45W USB-C power adapter included with the Meta Quest Pro.
In addition to the launch of Meta Quest Pro, Meta also announced a partnership with Microsoft to bring new business and productivity tools to Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 starting next year, including Microsoft Windows 365 apps and Microsoft Teams.
Also includes the ability to join a Teams meeting through Meta Horizon Workrooms.
Meta revealed that it is developing Meta Horizon Worlds on the web for users to visit friends who are enjoying virtual reality with the help of a phone or laptop.
It will soon let them watch YouTube videos together at the Meta Horizon Home.
The company also announced that its next-generation Meta Avatars will be more expressive, detailed, and have full-body VR. While outside of VR, they’re bringing avatars into video chat, starting with Messenger and WhatsApp, so the user can interact without turning on the camera.
Along with the announcements, the American tech giant also shared updates about future devices and the metaverse.
